6 SOG cops arrested for abduction

RAMBAN, Feb 24: Police claimed to have registered an FIR against Special Operation Group (SOG) cops for allegedly kidnapping, thrashing and damaging public property at Chanderkote, today.
Police report said that an Ambulance driver of District hospital after shifting Pogal accident victims was returning to Ramban from GMC Jammu on February 23, late evening. He was signalled by cops at Nashri falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chanderkote to chain their vehicle (truck) bearing registration number JK16-0870 which developed technical snag. On his refusal, the Ambulance driver identified as Tilak Raj son Somi Raj of Shamthi Doda, was allegedly thrashed mercilessly and injured critically by cops accompanied by ASI.
While talking to Kashmir Times, victim driver identified as Tilak Raj said he was made hostage, thrashed and kidnapped with vehicle by the keepers of law. They behaved like goons due to which they left leg got fractured.
SHO Police Station Chanderkote Inspector Diljeet Singh confirmed incident and said on the direction of Senior Officer an FIR number 8 of 2017 under section 341 and 323 RPC has been registered against Ganderbal police party who were on way to Srinagar from Jammu at Police Station Chanderkote. All the cops identified as Shokat Ahmed son of Abdul Aziz, Constable Irfan Ahmed belt number 618/GAL and other three cops including Assistant Sub-Inspector were arrested and they are cooling their heels in Police Station.
Meanwhile, Ambulance driver has been referred to GMC hospital Jammu for advance treatment.
