Missing KU student traced

SRINAGAR, Feb 24: Aqib Mustaq Malik, a law student from Kashmir University, who was missing for last several days has been traced.
He was handed over to university authorities in presence of family members. Pertinently, the varsity students had staged protest against the missing of the student and had appealed the administration to trace him as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman in a statement said, “As was reported earlier that on 22-02-2017 Chief Procter university of Kashmir reported in police station Nigeen to the effect that a student namely Aqib Mushtaq Malik son of Mushtaq Ahmad, a student of LLB 3rd Semester resident of Pinjoora, Shopian was missing since February 21 afternoon.Accordingly, a missing report was lodged in Police Station Nigeen”.
“Subsequently a special investigation team headed by SDPO Hazratbal was constituted to trace out the missing student,” the officials said.
The investigation team succeeded in tracing the missing student from the house of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat son of Abdul Rehman resident of Habak, Nigeen where he was staying as a tenant.
The statement recorded from the said student reveals that he was under stress for unknown reasons.
He further stated that he had spent 1st night at SKIMS Soura, 2nd at SMHS and thereafter during day hours visited a friend’s house at Baramulla and spent the 3rd night again at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
The officials said that after proper counseling the student was handed over to Chief Proctor University of Kashmir in presence of his relatives and friends.
A university statement said,” The University of Kashmir appreciates the efforts of J&K Police Department authorities in general, and Superintendent of Police (Hazratbal) Naveed Peerzada, in particular-and also office of Chief Proctor-in tracing the student.
After completion of formalities at Nigeen Police Station, Aqib has been handed over to University of Kashmir. Pertinent to mention here that the University authorities had formally taken up the issue with J&K’s Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid (IPS), yesterday, and requested him to have the matter inquired into on priority.”
