JKSRLM to raise over 1.24 lakh skilled manpower under Himayat: Haq Khan

NEW DELHI, Feb 19: Two day workshop on “Appraisal Process Requisites for Project Implementing Agencies” was organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM) in collaboration with National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) Hyderabad at India Habitat Centre New Delhi under Himayat programme.
Himayat is a skill development cum Placement programme for unemployed youth in J&K under the umbrella of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Koushalaya Yojna (DDU-GKY), Ministry of Rural Development, GOI, with focus on sustainable employment for rural poor youth and JKSRLM has been entrusted with the job of training and placing over 1.24 lakh candidates with financial allocation of Rs. 1601.51 crore for a period of 3 years.
The workshop witnessed an august gathering of representatives of Project Implementation Agencies (PIA) from various parts of the country alongwith senior representatives from Project Appraisal Agencies like Baker Tilly, Grant Throtten etc.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K State, Abdul Haq, presides over in the valedictory session of the two day programme.
The Minister, while addressing the gathering, shared the vision and mission of the government for raising skilled manpower under various skill development programmes. He asked the PIA’s to come forward and share their responsibility of helping the youth to prove their worth in the field of their choice as they just need a hand holding to show their talent. He added that training of youth shall be rolled out in the first week of March, 2017.
Director Finance, NIRD & PR Hyderabad, Sirra Santhi Raju, briefed the gathering about the significance of appraisal of project proposals and processes involved in it.
