4 shops, house, car gutted in Gandoh mysterious fire

DODA/GANDOH/BHADERWAH, Feb 10: At least 4 shops including a residential complex and a car went up in flames in Malik Pura market of Tehsil Gandoh in district Doda in a devastating blaze in the wee hours of Friday in which property worth millions were reduced to ashes but no one was seriously injured in the devastating midnight fire.
Reports said that during the intervening night Thursday and Friday, 4 shops and a residential complex including an Alto car came under mysterious blaze in main market of Malik Pura, 5 km from Gandoh.
The fire, which started at 12.45 AM Friday in which 4 shops and a residential complex belonging to Mohammad Hanief son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, Altaf Hussain son Abdul Gani Malik and Abdul Aziz son of Ghulam Mohammad-all residents of village Tilogda falling in Bhallessa were completely destroyed. One Alto car bearing registration number JK06-9781 of Wasim Akhter parked near the complex was also damaged in the fire.
Two adjoining shops and a residential were also got partially burnt in the devastating fire.
After receiving information about the incident, the locals and police personnel immediately started the operation to douse the fire, which was spreading very rapidly from the middle of the market and all the adjoining shops and houses are mostly made of dry Cedar and Pine wood.
When contacted SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta said, “Police alongwith locals reached the spot within 30 minutes and started to douse the flames, later fire tenders also joined us. As of now, fire has been completely extinguished and we are assessing the losses.”
Police has taken the cognizance of fire incident and started investigating and preliminary reports suggest that the fire started due to the shot circuit,” he added
MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar expressed shock and grief over the tragic fire incident in which houses and shops were gutted. He also expressed sympathy towards the affected families and instructed the district administration to provide immediate help and support to all those affected due the devastating blaze.
Expressing their deep sympathies with the families who lost their house and shops in the tragic fire accident, Parihar asked District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda to carry out relief and rehabilitation measures including provide free ration, tin sheets, blankets and others for the Bhalessa fire incident victims. Urged administration for proper and timely compensation, relief for the affected families, Congress leaders said the government should provide every possible support to the victims so that they could not face any problem in the prevailing cold weather conditions.
