3 sessions judges retired prematurely

JAMMU, June 6 (JNF): For the first time in the history of J&K judiciary, three District and Sessions Judges of State Higher Judiciary are pre-maturely retired, declaring them “deadwood”.
According to the sources close to the High Court, those who were declared as deadwood are Muzaffar Iqbal Qureshi presently Additional District Judge, TADA/POTA, Srinagar also holding the charge of Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Srinagar, Brij Mohan Gupta presently posted as Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah and Shakti Kumar Gupta Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil.
Advancing to the principle of zero tolerance for indiscipline, lack of integrity, inefficiency, the state High Court has examined the cases of officers for assessing their continued utility beyond 50, 55 and 58 years.
Source told JNF that Full Court meeting was held on June 3, 2013. The meeting presided over by Chief Justice MM Kumar has approved the decision of Administrative Committee. It has ordered premature retirement of Muzaffar Iqbal Qureshi, Brij Mohan Gupta and Shakti Kumar Gupta.
This is a clear signal to every member of J&K judiciary that there is no room for deadwood, incorrigible and corrupt persons.
