HC directs GAD to provide information on corruption cases

JAMMU, June 6 (JNF): In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking sanction for prosecution of tainted IAS, IFS and KAS officers, a division bench of the state High Court today directed General Administration Department (GAD) to provide information to the competent authority regarding sanction for prosecution of Baseer Ahmed Khan.
In the much publicized PIL seeking sanction for prosecution of senior IAS, IPS, IFS, KAS and other high-ups involved in corruption cases, the division bench of the state High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed the Secretary GAD to provide the information regarding sanction for prosecution of Baseer Ahmed Khan in Gulmarg land scam to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Department of Personnel and Training regarding comments of Investigating Officer on contentions of Baseer Ahmed Khan and defence statement of Baseer Ahmed Khan.
S S Ahmed, advocate appeared for the PIL petitioner whereas senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the state whereas ASGI K K Pangotra for the Union of India.
Division bench observed that ASGI KK Pangotra produced a copy of communication signed by Under Secretary Government of India to Secretary GAD wherein the said authority has been asked to furnish the version of the alleged accused officer and ornaments of Investigating Officer to the said authority. Upon this, division bench directed Secretary GAD J&K to provide the said information to the competent
authority within one week from today. Division Bench directed competent authority to consider and take a decision in the matter within a reasonable time frame.
Division bench directed registry to list this PIL immediately after ensuing vacations.
In the meanwhile, the division bench directed Secretary GAD to file an affidavit about compliance of direction given today and also directed ASGI K K Pangotra to file status report before the next date.
