Grenade attack on PS: 9 youth arrested in Anantnag

SRINAGAR, June 3: A day after the suspected militants hurled a grenade at police station Sherbagh, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police today raided different places in the town and arrested at least nine persons.
Reports said that SOG personnel at around 1 pm cordoned off Talak market and raided a famous bakery shop of the town 'Talak bakery’. "The SOG men during the raid arrested at least eight employees of the bakery and detained them at SOG camp Khanabal," reports and eyewitnesses said. They said that seven of the detained bakers were later shifted to police station Saddar while one of them was being interrogated at SOG camp.
"All of them are being questioned by the police," sources said. Some of the arrested persons were identified as Muzafar Ahmad, Mudasir Ahmad and Abdul Qayoom. Police, according to reports also sealed the establishment where the eight persons were working. "Besides sealing the bakery, police also summoned its owner to police station for questioning," sources said.
Sources further said that the SOG men also arrested another youth, from Brakpora area of the town. If was identified as Javed Ahmad alias Salfi. "Javed is a released militant and is suspected to be involved in yesterday’s grenade attack on police station," sources said.
