‘Release wages of PHE employees’
UDHAMPUR, June 3: Public Health Engineering (PHE) Employees Association today demanded release of wages of employees.

As per release, meeting of Executive body of PHE Employees Association of both the district was held at PHE Complex Udhampur under the chairmanship of Som Nath Vice President PHE Employees Association Jammu Province. Various genuine long pending demands including release of pending wages, shortage of staff, Change of designation, Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), benefit of SRQ 64, conversion of CP workers as daily wages and harassment of workers were discussed.

Som Nath said that no wages have been given to workers since last 14-18 months and they are facing situation like starvation. Provision for new staff should be kept on new water supply schemes. Crores of rupees are spent on new schemes, but workers are not recruited and engaged. Thousands of employees are required to run the supply system smoothly and properly in Jammu province. Designation of employees should be changed as per natural working as it has no financial burden on the department. DPC has been not conducted since last 15 years at divisional and provincial levels. All Daily wagers, ITI workers and Community Participation Workers who have completed 7 years of services as daily wages should be regularized under SRO 64, he added.

Som Nath stressed of conversion of CP workers as daily wagers as 4905 workers out of 9319 have been converted as daily wagers but pending list is awaited since 3 years. All the formalities have been submitted to the higher authorities and list should be issued immediately. Government asked for information of CP workers and daily wagers monthly twice. It is only wastage of time and befooling of workers.

A deputation of PHE Employees Association met with Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Udhampur for release of wages who assured for his best on the matter. Som Nath appealed the Government to fulfill various genuine long pending demands of the employees, so that agitation path may not be adopted.

Others who addressed the programme Rattan Singh, Subash Chander, Suraj Parkash, Krishan Chand, Baldev Raj, Amar Dev Singh, Luxman Singh, Chuni Lal, Shiv Lal Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar and Balveer Singh.
