Laila Khan, kin alive, says Parvez Tak

MUMBAI, July 7 (Agencies): Parvez Iqbal Tak, stepfather of Bollywood starlet Laila Khan twisted his statement and now claimed that Laila Khan and her family is alive.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch of Mumbai police on Saturday got the permission from Kishtwar court of Jammu to bring forest contractor Parvez Tak to Mumbai.
Last day, during police interrogation Tak claimed that Laila Khan her mother Saleena Patel, sister Azimna Patel, siblings Zara Ann Imran and a relative Reshma Khan were all shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir and their bodies were buried outside Mumbai but now the prime suspect twisted his verdict and said that they are all alive.
Laila and her family went missing from their Oshiwara flat in February 2011 and her biological father Nadir Patel lodged a police complaint last year about his missing daughter. Laila Khan who debuted in Bollywood with ‘Wafaa’ opposite Rajesh Khanna is also linked to the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba.
"He has been constantly changing his statements to Jammu police, so we cannot rely on him. Until we interrogate him, it will be difficult to even assume the family has been killed," Himanshu Roy, JCP (Crime), Mumbai Police told a daily.
Crime Branch of Mumbai police on Saturday got the permission from Kishtwar court of Jammu to bring forest contractor Parvez Tak to Mumbai in connection with Bollywood starlet Laila Khan abduction case.
"We have got four days of transit remand," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy said on Saturday. Now, Tak will be brought to Mumbai and will be produced in a local court in four days.
The Mumbai Police crime branch will bring Parvez Tak to Mumbai and produce him in a local court in four days.
The crime branch is probing the kidnapping case of Laila and her family.
Forest contractor Parvez Tak, arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police, had reportedly told the interrogators that Laila and others were shot dead in Maharashtra in 2011.
Meanwhile, the crime branch claimed to have recovered around 1,000 photographs of Laila with many high ranking officials and politicians while searching her house on Saturday in suburban Oshiwara.
The starlet and her family - mother Shelina, elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran and another relative- went missing from Mumbai in February 2011.
A case of kidnapping was registered at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai on Friday, on the complaint of her father Nadir Patel.
According to the complaint, Tak and his accomplice Asif had kidnapped Laila and others.
Tak was arrested by J&K police on June 21 this year and is currently under their custody. Mumbai Crime Branch also held Tak`s partner and Laila`s mother Saleena`s second husband Asif Shaik.
Nadir Patel informed crime branch about his missing daughter, "Six months ago, I heard a car registered in Saleena`s name was found parked in Jammu. I tried searching for Saleena and my daughters but in vain. So, I approached the police and lodged a complaint. I came to know that Saleena and my daughters were last seen with Tak on February 8, 2011. I suspect that Tak had abducted my daughters for property".
Referring to a mysterious fire a few months ago which partly damaged their bungalow in Igatpuri, a hill-station in Maharashtra`s Nashik district, around 130 km from Mumbai, Patel contended that there could be a link between Laila and her family`s disappearance and the fire, but declined to elaborate. In fact, Patel was the one to file a missing person’s complaint with the Oshiwara police initially.
Mumbai police have also discovered over 1000 photographs of the starlet with influential politicians and industrialists at Khan’s residence. The police are now also suspecting Laila’s role in the Hawala case.
