3 of Gujjar family injured in Bhaderwah attack

BHADERWAH, May 31: Three members of a Gujjar family including two women were injured when some miscreants today allegedly attacked them at Jai Bash Dhar area with sharp-edged weapons here this morning.
Police, however, claimed that three members of Gujjar community sustained serious injuries when another group, according to Bhaderwah police, attacked them with sharp- edged weapons, sticks and stones while they were grazing their cattle.
Police revealed the cause of the dispute was a very petty issue related to control over a piece of land which Gujjars were using for grazing for the last 100 years. Today one group came to Bash Dhar with the intention of control of land and allegedly attacked Gujjars and injured three in which one was critical, police added.
Local Gujjars along with police shifted all injured to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah for treatment.
The injured were identified as Bashira Bibi, wife of Muneer Hussain, Guna Bibi wife of Kaka Guijar and Mohammad Hussain son of Feroz Din all residents of Jai Bash.
Condition of Bashira Bibi is said to be critical and is in coma according to doctors treating her in Sub District Hospital, Bhaderwah.
Kaka Hussain one of the eyewitness of clash said that they are the owners of the Jai Bash from the last 100 years. He said that is also mentioned in forest records but today other Gujjar family entered Jai valley to take forcible possession of the Jai Bash Dhar. After resistant from the owners, they attacked them with sharp-edged weapons and escaped from the spot leaving the injured in the pool of blood, he claimed.
Community members started assembling in SDH Bhaderwah and held protest demonstration demanding justice to injured persons and strict action against goons.
Choudhary Mohammad Hussain President Gujjar and Bakwerwal Congress cell accused forest department officials for the whole mess in Jai Bash Dhar. He alleged that they received handsome graft from anyone and issued ownership rights. He demanded strict action against goons who attacked innocent Gujjars without any provocation and also sought intervention of forest minister and strict action against culprits. He also informed that last year too some goons attacked a Gujjar at Thanala, Bhaderwah and killed him.
