Death of youth: Protestors ransack Sopore hospital, beat doctors

SRINAGAR, May 31: Angry protestors today allegedly ransacked Sopore hospital and beat the doctors after the death of a youth.
Holding demonstrations, the protestors alleged that 20 year old Ghulam Nabi died due to negligence of doctors. But the doctors said that the youth was brought dead into hospital.
Reports said Ghulam Nabi hailed from Arampora-Sopore. He was dealing with shuttering in construction works. Today while working at Rampora-Rajpora, some 20 kms from Sopore, he accidentally touched a high tension wire. Ghulam Nabi was removed to Sopore hospital in a critical condition.
The protestors said his life could have been saved but he died due to negligence of doctors. They beat the doctors and ransacked the hospital. Doctors pleaded that Ghulam Nabi was brought dead. “There is no question of negligence by doctors. He was brought dead,” said Dr Sayeed, BMO.
Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. A case was registered. Postmortem of the body of Ghulam Nabi was conducted and it was handed over to family members for last rites.
Meanwhile, 10 persons were injured in different road accidents across Kashmir since last evening.
A boy was also injured when a pony rider allegedly hit him at Pahloo village in Kulgam.
Police has registered a case against the pony rider, Muzamil Ahmad Dar. The injured was identified as ShahidAhmad Kumar of Pahloo Kulgam. He was shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
Reports said an unidentified Tata Mobile hit and injured 55 year old woman. Jana of Baswal at national highway Kichpora, Ganderbal. The injured was removed to Sub District Hospital Kangan where from she was referred to SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar for further treatment. A case has been registered in this regard.
An unidentified vehicle hit a person reportedly mentally challenged at Khudbal, Nawab Bazar, Srinagar. The injured was shifted to SMHS, hospital Srinagar for treatment.
