Blames Cong, J&K govt for Doda incident

SRINAGAR, May 30: JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik today gave a general strike call on prime minister’s visit to Kashmir on June 25 saying he has failed in his peace process which proved only an illusion.
Malik was addressing a press conference here after returning from Doda where he was stopped from distributing relief among the earthquake affected people. Three trucks carrying the relief of JKLF were seized by police, drivers thrashed and Malik and others were almost made hostage in a hotel.
JKLF squarely put the blame for Doda incident on central and state governments and alleged that they did it as AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi was visiting the area. He lashed out at the government and stated that he was not going to create any trouble Doda but to distribute the relief among the affected people.
Malik viewed that the Doda incident has once again exposed the real face of government of India led by Prime Minister. “Dr Manmohan Singh has miserably failed to deliver on the peace process. Instead of capitalizing on the peace process, 72 innocent Kashmiri were killed in 2008 agitation, 45 in 2009 and in 2010, 124 youth were killed under so called peace process,” he said.
He alleged that Congress party is directly involved in hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru. Malik added that Guru was hanged under mysterious circumstances and he was not allowed to complete the judicial process.
“Again, the real face of Congress party was exposed when I was stopped to distribute relief among the affected families. The reason was simple, the Yuvraj (Rahul Gandhi) was yet to visit the Doda,” he said.
Malik also said that Congress party is playing a very dangerous game in the state with the help of security agencies. “The youth are being arrested on charges of stone pelting. They are being promised to release on condition of joining Congress. In the name of secular party of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress is playing a dirty role to deprive Kashmiris of their genuine rights,” he said.
The JKLF Chairman also said that vice chancellor of Kashmir University Prof Talat Ahmad has become Halqa president of Congress party. He has asked the students to form Congress students union and the students are not being allowed to form an independent students union.
“The Yuvraj of Congress party and other leaders are being invited time and again in the campus by the vice chancellor. But Kashmiri leaders are not allowed to enter the campus. The vice chancellor is acting purely like a Congress activist to promote Congress party in the institution,” he said.
Malik has appealed people to observe black Day on June 25, when Dr Manmohan Singh will visit the valley. “The people will give a message to Dr Manmohan about his failures in capitalising peace process. He started the peace process to deceive people of the state. Instead of starting any meaningful dialogue with the genuine leadership of the people, the pro-freedom leaders were sent to jails, youths were interrogated, arrested and Mohammad Afzal Guru was hanged for vote bank politics,” he said.
Holding state government responsible for supporting each and every action of the central government particularly from the Congress party, he said, “The state government is part and parcel of the dirty game being played by central government with Kashmiris,” he said.
Briefing the reporters about Doda incident, Yasin Malik said that hours after their arrival in township, a police party under the supervision of a deputy superintendent of police started ransacking the three trucks, and beat the drivers.
The window panes of the vehicles were also damaged. The trucks were sent back to Pull Doda. He said he had come to Doda with the mission to distribute the relief material which included tents and blankets to those families who are living under open sky.
