Govt may impose ban on private practice of doctors

SRINAGAR, May 30: The state cabinet is meeting in Srinagar tomorrow to discuss and approve some major policy issues in the state administration.
The cabinet meeting will begin at 9.30 AM at Civil Secretariat. During the meeting the cabinet is likely to impose ban on private practice of doctors and give its approval for appointment of an Information Technology Consultants for fast track appointments in the government departments.
The state government had already imposed ban on private practice of all head of departments in all government run hospitals. This time, the government is likely to impose ban on the private practice of all doctors.
The sources said that government is likely to approve for creation of some special institutes, where the doctors can do practice. However, these special institutes will be established under direct control of health department, which will finalise fee structure and other modalities.
Sources in the state administration told Kashmir Times that Cabinet will also take stock of the relief and rehabilitation of earthquake affected population of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts besides restoration of the infrastructure, which suffered immense damage during earth quick.
The cabinet will access the distribution of the relief provided by the state government and will also discuss the accusations leveled by various political leaders in distribution of relief operations.
Among the other important issues likely to be discussed before the Cabinet tomorrow, the spurious drug scam and the procurement of drugs in government run hospitals will also come under discussed during the cabinet meeting.
The sources said that Minister for health will brief the cabinet about the measures taken by his department to stop supply of spurious drug in the hospitals.
Apart from the fake drug issue, the cabinet is also discussed the prevailing law and order situation and the measures taken by the government to keep incident free coming tourist season and the measures taking by the police and other security agencies for the sooth conduct of the Amaranth Yatra.
Sources also said that there are number of other widely expected issues which are likely to come under discussion but this was not part of the agenda till late this evening. Sources said that so may issue are expected to come up in the supplementary agenda of the meeting.
Some transfers and postings at top level of administration in police and civil administration are expected. During the last two cabinet meetings the cabinet failed to reach out to any consensus in the transfer of police department and the transfers were postponed at very last moment after some cabinet ministers exchanged heated arguments with each other.
The cabinet is also likely to discuss the prevailing law and order situation and the measures taken by the government to maintain law and order in the state.
