SRINAGAR, May 29: Separatist leadership today rejected the suggestion of chief minister Omar Abdullah and PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz to them for a dialogue with centre particularly with prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The suggestion was made by the two mainstream leaders recently in the backdrop ofvisit of Dr Manmohan Singh to Kashmir next month.
Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told the Kashmir Times that environment is not conducive for initiating any dialogue with prime minister during his visit to Kashmir.
“New Delhi has failed to create a suitable environment of dialogue. We gave some suggestions for confidence building measures to New Delhi. They do not respond to them. Under such a situation there is no scope of any dialogue with Dr Manmohan Singh in near future,” he said.
Mirwaiz also said that his faction has not given much importance to the statements of Omar or Soz as nothing is happening practicaly out of their public announcements.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik said that his party will not be part of any dialogue process with prime minister during his coming visit to Kashmir as he (prime minister) failed to initiate any serious dialogue with Pakistani establishment and with Kashmiri leadership for resolution of Kashmir issue.
Yasin alleged that prime minister failed to capitalise the smooth group for the last 10 years. “When nine months are only left for Indian Parliamentary elections, the Local Congress and National Conference leaders are raising the issue of talks to gain some public sympathy for their vote bank politics,” he said.
Rejecting the offer of chief minister and Prof Soz to facilitate talks with Prime Minister during his visit to Kashmir, JKLF chairman said, “We still remember the role of Congress and National Conference leadership, when Mohammad Afzal Guru was hanged. We still remember their role when 32 Kashmiris were awarded life imprisonment. The so called leaders are playing the role of opportunism to gain votes ahead of elections.”
Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said his faction has already made it clear that they will not be part of any dialogue process unless Central Government will not react positively to their point five programme.
“No talks with Dr Manmohan Singh and others, unless, political prisoners are not been released, New Delhi will not accept publicly disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir, repealing of draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Disturbed Areas Act and cases are not been lodged against the police and CRPF personals, who killed 120 youths in 2010 peaceful agitation,” he said.
The Hurriyat (G) spokesman also said his faction is not taking the statements of the Omar Abdullah, Prof Soz and others seriously as it has became their habit to raise resolution of Kashmir issue when elections are coming nearer.
“There would be no change in the position of Geelani Sahib. His position is rock solid. Whether Dr Manmohan Singh comes to Kashmir or not, Geelani Sahib will not become any process of dialogue unless New Delhi will not respond to our point five programme,” he said.
Chief Minister, PCC Chief and various other leaders had suggested the separatist leadership to talk with prime minister during his visit to Kashmir. They also expressed their desire to facilitate a dialogue between separatists and Dr Singh during his stay in valley.
