Indo-Pak friendship

Dear Editor,
That India and Pakistan are once again moving towards friendship, is a good sign. But I think it can take up to a generation before peace prevails in the region. A lot of bad blood has been created between the two countries and cleaning that would need more time. Apart from the wars fought and the bitterness caused by support of Jihadi elements, more than a generation has been brainwashed in Pakistan through state funded curriculum. In India atleast the brainwashing part was fortunately absent. For now only logical thing to do is to keep trying. “Hope is a good thing – perhaps the best of the things’. We need to move from revenge towards reconciliation. There has to be only one irrevocable commitment binding on both governments of today and tomorrow, that peace process will not be reversed under any circumstances.
