PREWA hails LPEF for releasing 8% DA

JAMMU, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA), today congratulated state pensioners and employees as their struggle, waged under the banner of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) headed by a veteran Trade Union leader Comrade Abdul Majid Khan, emerged victorious in getting released 8 per cent DA instalment from January 2013 from in the State government.
As per a handout, PREWA President Krishan Singh while addressing the meeting urged for payment of 6th Pay Commission arrears in one instalment on Central pattern as first two installments stands paid to State pensioners and employees out of five annual installments as ordered by the government while 3rd one has become due in April 2013 fund for which do not appeared to have been released so far by the government.
He further demanded enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs.300 to Rs.l000 on the same analogy as adopted in respect of sitting and former Ministers and Legislators in the light of exorbitant medicare expenses.
In his letter to Director General Prisons, Singh urged for speedy/sympathetic consideration of demands contained in the memorandum presented before him by a deputation of the Association which met him on April 25, 2013 especial for convening 2nd Annual prison meet and for redrafting Welfare fund Rules for retired/in-service prison officers/ officials on police pattern.
