Hideout busted in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Mar 30: Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajouri police today recovered ammunition and grenades from militant hideout in a forest under the jurisdiction of Police Station Manjakot today.
The recovery included 3 magazines of AK rifle along with 27 rounds, 4 hand grenades of Chinese make, 1- radio set, 2 pain killer injections, one knife and few pencil cells.
Police said that few days ago after the presence of militant group in Peer Kaleba area, a joint search and destroy operation was launched by the SOG and 38RR in the area and during search the recovery was made by security forces. For the last few weeks information about the movement of a militant group was pouring in from the area and security forces were on high alert and were chasing the group.
Azaz Sheikh, DSP operation said that recovery was made from the militant hideout and search is on to track the militant group.
On Thursday the presence of militant group was also observed in the forests around Thanamandi town, a tehsil headquarter. This came to light when a youth of village Manyal Gali identified as Sharfraz informed the police that some militants asked him to show them the way. On refusing they (militants) thrashed Sarfraz and left him with warning.
Police claimed that only one militant is operating in the district but no senior officer confirmed it. But intelligence agencies said that about 8-10 militants are operating in the district.
Militants operating in the area including locals are running short of arms, ammunition and money and are always on run to save their lives and avoiding direct confrontation with the security forces.
