Geelani reiterates protest call for today
SRINAGAR, Jul 5: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, today reiterated the call for peaceful protests after Friday prayers tomorrow.

“The incidents at Gund Hassibhat and Khanyar seem elements of a larger conspiracy aimed at dividing the society on religious lines…Muslim can accept anything, but disrespect to his religion. Therefore, peaceful protests shall be held after prayers tomorrow,” he said in a statement here.

Geelani said New Delhi wanted to set up in Kashmir the “type of Islam that suits them.”

The veteran leader said the government has started operation against the Islamic and the pro-freedom youths, and that anyone following Islam was summoned to the police stations.

He also asked for immediate release of the prisoners, and condemned the police action against the separatists.
