SRINAGAR, Mar 11: Awami Itihhaad Party (AIP) president Engineer Abdul Rashid today dared Congress to expel its five MLAs, who had issued an apology letter for hanging of Afzal Guru to get his vote for their party candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Congress is adopting double standards as in parliament it is raising all ultra nationalist outcry on Afzal Guru mortal remains and release of Masarat Alam and in J&K its approach is different. “Five Congress MLAs issued apology letter for hanging of Afzal Guru. Congress should than expel these five MLAs or adopt a uniform standard” he said.
Rashid addedt he has submitted two resolutions in the coming assembly session with reference to bringing mortal remains of Mohammad Afzal Guru releasing of all political prisoners languished in jails. Engineer Rashid also questioned double standards of central government with reference to Paradigm adopted in Nagaland and another paradigm adopted in Kashmir.
“If a feared Naga militant leader like Isaac Muivah can have his office in Delhi and enjoy all perks from state despite his militant organization collecting taxes from Naga people and running a parallel government in Nagaland than why is same Indian state apparatus creating so much hue and cry over legal release of Kashmiri political prisoner Masarat Alam one fails to understand this and it simply reflects sheer hypocrisy on part of Indian government and media of India,” he said.
He alleged that fascist voices, who live in constant fear that bringing back Afzal Guru mortal remains back will lead to building some sort of memorial should answer how memorial of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been established at sacred Golden Temple Amritsar by Akalis. “Engineer Rashid appealed to PDP and NC to get united for genuine causes of browbeaten nation of Kashmir and remarked “ If Indian Government creates a notion about Mufti Sayeed being a pro-Pakistan CM and lot of venom against genuine release of political prisoner like Masarat Alam with mass following it is undoubtedly high time for separatist and mainstream leadership of Kashmir to think how can the Government of India brought on table to discuss real political dispute of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
