Eid celebrated with simplicity in Kashmir
SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Eid-ul-Zuha was celebrated with simplicity in Kashmir today. The call for observing Eid was given by various religious, social and political organisations in the backdrop of recent floods which caused deaths and massive devastation. Lakhs of people were rendered homeless.

Despite the festival being observed with simplicity, huge Eid congregations were held across the Valley. People in large numbers offered Eid prayers at Eidgahs, mosques, shrines and imambaras.

Huge congregations were held at Eidgah and Hazratbal shrine. Thousands of people offered prayers there. The imams threw light on Eid-ul-Zuha. They also highlighted the sufferings of the people during floods.

No Eid prayer could be held at TRC crossing ground. Jamiat-e-Ahlihadees organised the prayers at Gani Memorial stadium in the old city of Srinagar.

Reports of big Eid congregations were also held from Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, Chara-e-Sharief, Tral, Pampore, Pattan, Sopore, Kokernag, Bijbehara and Anantnag.

After the Eid prayers people offered the sacrifices of sacrificial animals and distributed the meat among neighbours and friends.

The day began with morning prayers following by greetings of Eid among family members. The people also greeted their neighbours and relatives. Thousands of displaced families, affected by floods, had to celebrate Eid away from their homes.
