15 injured in Bhaderwah group clash over land dispute

BHADARWAH, Aug 01: At least fifteen persons were injured in a clash between two groups of majority community over taking of control of management of a religious place (Madrasa) and its surrounding land at Mounda village some 5 Kilometers away from Bhadarwah town, late last evening.
Police said that two groups had an old dispute over taking management of Madrasa. Five years ago former president Anjuman Islamia Sartingal Hazi Nazir Ahmed purchased a piece of land at Mounda village with the money of Masjid donation of local residents and after completion of his period he refused to give the possession of Madrasa and surrounding land to the management of the Masjid. When the issue of land was raised other party filed a case in Bhadarwah Munsiff Court against Hazi Nazir Ahmed and after 3 years Haji Nazir Ahmed compromised with the management on the basis of handover the possession of land and Madrasa.
Late night, one group headed by ex-Imam gave ‘Azan’ in the Masjid which was objected by the other group headed by Ashokat Peer. This led to altercation between the two groups followed by clash with both sides using wooden rods. Resulting 15 persons were injured in the clash. Someone informed Bhadarwah police regarding the clash and SHO Police station Bhaderwah along with police party rushed to the spot police shifted the injured persons of both groups to SDH Bhadarwah. Five seriously injured were referred to GMC hospital Jammu, SKIMS Srinagar and DH Doda.
Farooq Beg son of Ghulam Hassan Beg of Sartingal, For SKIMS Identified as Nadeem son of Munir Ahmed was referred to GMC hospital Jammu and Sharif Ali and Munir Ahmed both residents of Sartingal was referred to SKIMS Shokat Peer son of Ghulam Nabi and Mohammad Amin son of Abdul Aziz both residents of Sartingal were referred to District Hospital Doda. Other injured undergoing treatment at SDH Bhaderwah were identified as Nayeem Ahmed son of Abdul Hamid his father Abdul Hamid son of Abdullah, Gulshana Begum wife of Farooq Ahmed, Mohammad Sharief son of Munir Ahmed, Rehmatulla son of Nazir Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed son of Ghulam Nabi, Barkatulla son of Nazir Ahmed, Nasir Hussain and his brother Sajid Hussain both sons of Zafrulla, Khalid son of Munir Ahmed all residents of Sartingal.
Bhadarwah police has registered counter FIRs against both groups bearing number 107 of 2014 under section 307, 451, 147, 148 and 323 and FIR number 108 of 2014 under section 307, 451, 147, 148 and 323 RPC in this regard and started investigation.
Today the situation of the area is tense but under control local administration has deployed police and Para military forces in the said area.
