SRINAGAR, June 1: Senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil today asked the chief minister Omar Abdullah to prove his credential in whatever little time he has left or otherwise both National Conference (NC) and Congress are bound to face defeat in assembly elections.
In a statement, Vakil said coalition candidates were defeated in recent Lok Sabha elections in the state because of corruption, mismanagement and misgovernance.
He alleged that politicians and bureaucrats involved in corruption and scams were not touched but only middle rank officials were booked.
Referring to the ongoing debate on the Article 370, the Congress leader urged upon the chief minister to convene an all party meeting if he is really sincere on the issue. “He must convene an all party meeting so that a united stand is taken against the attempts to abrogate Article 370,” he said
Vakil stated that the leaders of various mainstream parties, who are raising a hue and cry right now were responsible for the erosion of the article. “It was during their respective regimes in the past when original spirit of Article 370 was deliberately weakened, amended and eroded to secure power for them. They now claim to protect Article 370,” he added.
