Prof Sunil led Team-A wins friendly tie of Science College

JAMMU, May 31: Led by Prof Sunil Gupta the Team-A defeated the Team-B, captained by Prof Attar Singh, by a huge margin of 75 runs in a friendly Twenty20 match of GGM Science College at the Hostel ground, here today.
Batting first, after winning the toss, the Team-A set a target of 161 for the loss of four wickets. Prof Supreme Singh played fine innings of 55 runs while Prof Ankit Sharma (36), Prof Rajinder Singh (10) and Prof Sunil Gupta (11) were other batsmen with scores in double figure.
In reply, Team-B made a bad start losing two opening wickets. It was followed by fall of wickets on regular intervals resulting into the whole side bowled out for 85 runs in 15 overs. However, Prof Venus Sharma and Prof Rajesh Gupta showed some resistance to the opponent bowlers thereby stretched the innings contributing 29 and 13 runs respectively.
Prof Baldev Krishan was most successful bowler from Team A, who took way four wickets while skipper, Prof Sunil Gupta and Prof Jagjit Singh shared two and one wicket respectively.
Later, Supreme Singh, for his splendid half century for the winning team, named man of the match.
The winning and runners-up team awarded with trophies by Principal of the college, Dr Nutan K Resutra. Speaking to the gathering of teachers and other staff, Dr Resutra said, “It will remain endeavor of the college to provide all facilities as regards sports activities to the students as well as staff in the ensuing session so that they groom themselves as perfect gentlemen and contribute to the betterment of the society.”
