NC actively considering future ties with Cong: Farooq

SRINGAR, May 29: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that future coalition ties with Congress party for the coming assembly elections are in active consideration of the National Conference and the
party will take a final decision soon.
The NC president today lowered his tone and said that some sort of amnesty should be given to the stone-pelters and those youths facing minor charges of stone pelting incidents should be released.
Dr Abdullah was talking to reporters at Nawa-i-Subh party headquarters after presiding over a meeting of National Conference youth wing. He said that party high command is in process of taking a final decision about the future ties with Congress party in the coming assembly elections.
He said that the party leaders are getting feedback from the grass root workers and the final decision in this regard would be taken shortly.
“The recent parliament elections would be taken into consideration, while taking a decision. We can only say that the National Conference will take a decision in the larger interests of the party,” he said.
Supporting that some sort of general amnesty should be given to the youth allegedly involved in stone-pelting incidents, he claimed that he met some youths recently who are involved in stone-pelting and felt that some sort of amnesty should be given to them.
Dr Abdullah said that NC has a history of rendering sacrifices for the people of this State and the party was sole guardian of the people’s rights. He said that it has always been the goal of National Conference to fight poverty, destitution and hopelessness and the party has achieved historic feats in mitigating the problems of the people of the state.
“People of this glorious State had been dwarfed into slavery and servitude by brutal dictators and monarchies and it was National Conference that started the movement to give our peasants their rights and our people the pride of belonging to this glorious motherland, he said adding that it this party prepared and presented a blue-print for the welfare and progress of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Dr Abdullah said that National Conference had a history of rendering sacrifices for the people of this State and the identity of a nation was its most valuable asset. He said that Jammu and Kashmir had survived numerous conspiracies and ploys to dilute its unique constitutional status and that National Conference will never allow
the apologetic proxies of communal parties to divide the people of this State for their short-term, electoral and political gains.
NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani and Youth National Conference president, Salman Ali Sagar were also present there.
