Army jawans commits suicide in Rajouri

RAJOURI, May 29: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Rajouri district, today morning.
According to reports, the army jawan identified as Satish Chander Thakur posted with 108 Field Regiment shot himself dead with his service gun while performing his professional duty at the post during the wee hours today.
Hearing the gun shot panic gripped the area after the gun shot sound heard and all the jawans rushed to the post he was at duty. When they reached the spot and saw the jawan lying in a pool of blood. Immediately police was called and body was taken to District Hospital for postmortem.
Police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC and further investigation is in progress. The reason behind this extreme step could not be ascertained immediately. Some family tension could be the reason behind this suicide, as per sources.
A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident, a defence spokesperson said.
It is pertinent to mention here that few days back an army jawan posted at LoC in Poonch district shot dead two of his associates and later also shot himself. Such incidents of suicide and murder in Army are creating suspicious in minds that all is not well in army.
