Durga Club, Ramban beats PC Doda in inaugural tie

DODA, May 17: Durga Cricket Club Ramban won the inaugural tie of the All India10th Gurfan Memorial Twenty20 Tournament, organised by Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) at Sports Stadium, here.
In the inaugural tie, Durga Club registered a fine 59 runs win against Pranoo Club Doda. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Durga Cricket Club made 176 runs for five wickets. Surinder played brilliant innings of 90 runs while Sanjay contributed 19 runs to the total. From Pranoo Club, Fartullah and Rizwan Khan took one wicket each.
In reply, Pranoo Club could not chase the target and bundled out for 117 runs in 19 overs. Majit remained highest scorer with 43 runs while Faraz added 14. From Druga Club, Shubam and Neeraj emerged as most successful bowlers with four and three wickets respectively.
For his brilliant knock of 90 runs, Surinder of the winning team was declared man of the mach.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by District Development Commissioner Doda, Mubark Singh, who was chief guest. Commanding Officer of 10 RR, Sunil Mishra was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were ADC Imam Din, 2IC10 RR and Social activist, Nuzahat Iqbal as also Manager YSCC Mehboob Kripak, Mohd Iqbal Balwan.
Speaking on the occasion after interacting with both the teams, Deputy Commissioner Doda Mubark Singh lauded the efforts of Young Star Cricket Club Doda for organising such events in this region since last 16 years which is providing a good platform for the young budding cricketers of this backward region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh said that he has never seen such type of cricket tournament in any part of this state and revealed that its only the good efforts of YSCC Doda who are involved in boosting the cricket talent in this state.
Singh further congratulated all the participating teams particularly from outside state and country who are participating in Gufran tournaments since last many years.
