Presentation Convent, Amba Kids excel in fencing

REASI, May 17: Presentation Convent Reasi bagged the overall trophy in boys section while girls’ championship trophy went to Amba Kids School Panthal in the two-day inter-school fencing competition of district Reasi, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at holy town of Katra.
Earlier, the overall section position in boys section went to Higher Secondary School Panthal. The sports wing of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) extended a helping hand in the successful conduct of the competition.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the SMVDSB, Dr M K Kumar, who was chief guest. Director Sports of SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar was guest of honour.
In all, 120 male and female fencers, representing 15 educational institutions of the district, took part in the competition. Out of these participants, 50 such fencers have been short listed for the upcoming inter-district competitions.

Under-17 yr: Epee: Asif, HSS Panthal, Ist; Abishek, Trikuta Public, 2nd and Saransh, Lawrence Public, 3rd. Sabre: Akhil Atri, TSN Reasi, Ist; Vishal, GMS Lower Seela, 2nd and Mandeep, GHSS Panthal, 3rd.
GIRLS: Under-14 yr: Foil: Riya Manhas, Amba Kids, Ist; Aankshika, Amba Kids, 2nd and Riffat, Amba Kids, 3rd. Epee: Pihul Rajpur, Amba Kids, Ist; Shahida, Amba Kids, 2nd and Kanika, MS Mangoon, 3rd.
