JK Bank blanks PDC, enters final

JAMMU, Feb 20: Jammu and Kashmir Bank today blanked another professional side of Power Development Corporation (PDC) 3-0 to qualify for the final of the Fourth Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament underway at GGM Science College ground, here.
Entered the field in an aggressive mood, J&K Bank got the first breakthrough in the 11th minute when Prem Kumar netted the ball. Zubair Shah doubled the lead scoring the goal in the 48th minute.
With an invincible 2-0 first half lead, Bank continued to play in similar fashions thus got another opportunity to improve the score on board after the drinks. Prem Kumar struck again in the 68th minute to help his side make it 3-0.
The contest between two big teams of the state attracted a healthy crowd at the ground but left in dejection after a meek surrender by the well equipped PDC.
Earlier, Bilal Ahmed was shown a red card in the 84th minute for his unwarranted act. Jamsheed Ahmed of J&K Bank, Hayat Handoo and Salim Gul were also punished with yellow card by the centre referee, Suresh Gupta for their foul play.
Meanwhile, other semifinal between Forest XI and J&K Police has been scheduled for tomorrow at 3 pm at the same venue.
The semifinal officiated by the technical penal including Suresh Kumar Gupta, Koushal Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Rohit Kumar Gupta.
International fencer and member State Sports Council, Rashid Ahmed was special guest in today’s semifinal. Also present were Satpal Kalsi, Satpal Singh, Harbans Lal, Charan Dass and Krishan Lal.
J&K Police shall face J&K Forest in another semifinal on tomorrow at 3 pm.
