DGP fears more violence after US forces pull out in Afghanistan

JAMMU, Jan 16: Apprehending escalation in violence after withdrawal of US forces from the Afghanistan, Director General of Police Ashok Prasad today said that security forces alongwith police is ready to thwart nefarious designs of anti-national elements.
Prasad said that as militants have shifted their strategy to attack security forces to disrupt peace and provoke them to react, a well planned strategy has also been chalked out to foil all their attempts.
“Their (militants) attacks are no longer affecting the public as they have changed their strategy and are now targeting police and security forces,” DG told reporters at the sidelines of a function here this afternoon.
He said that the graph of militancy has come down considerably as police and security forces have neutralized many of the top militant commanders.
On recent spurt in violence, he said that militants are trying to “Instigate violence in Kashmir and they are adopting different tactics”.
He, however, said that the security forces, army and the police are prepared to take on them (militants) any time amid the apprehensions of escalations of violence after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
