Kashmir Times. Dated: 4/21/2013 11:49:15 PM
NEW DELHI, Apr 21 (Agencies): In the backdrop of increasing ruckus and indiscipline in Parliament by the MPs, Rajya Sabha Speaker and Vice President Hamid Ansari on Sunday called for some tough measures which include suspension of members from the House.
Ansari said, "I have witnessed, as you have, the propensity in the House to dispense with decorum, disregard the rules of procedure, treat them with contempt, and violate them with impunity."
Ahead of the second half of the Budget Session, the Rajya Sabha Speaker suggested some tough actions so that Parliament can run smoothly and there is no waste of time and money. Ansari also suggested deferred broadcast of the House proceedings and proposed listing of rowdy parliamentarians in the Rajya Sabha bulletin.
However, leaders of various political parties objected the intervention of the Rajya Sabha Speaker.
