SRINAGAR, Apr 16: Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) has asked people to observe complete strike on Saturday (April 20) against spurious drug scandal and has demanded the stringent action against the ministers and officials involved in sale and supply of medicines in valley.
Terming the act as heinous one and against all norms, Geelani impressed upon International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) and other world bodies to intervene and take serious note of the drug scandal.
He described the supply of spurious medicine a conspiracy against the people of valley and a policy of ethnic cleansing of a particular community.
“The supply of spurious medicines to valley in particular depicts that concerned authorities are not serious about the safety of people. Rather they are interested in genocide of Muslim community in particular. For them it is a routine process and as they are not interested with the welfare of the people,” Geelani said.
Referring to the death toll of infants in GB Panth Hospital, allegedly due to the use of spurious medicines, he demanded stringent action and exemplary punishment to the then health minister Sham Lal Sharma and drug controller and those involved in this heinous crime.
Geelani strongly criticised the criminal silence maintained by authorities and demanded registration of cases against the culprits.
