*Pak accuses Indian army of killing Pakistani soldier

MENDHAR, Jan 10: After a lull of 24 hours amid tension at Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan today fired at Indian posts at the scene of Tuesday's brutal killing of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani Army troops in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
However, Pakistan said it lost one of its soldiers Sepoy Nasir Hussain of 29 Baloch in the exchange of fire, while claiming that the provocation took place from Indian side which was denied by Army Headquarters here.
After a lull of a day Pak Army again violated ceasefire at Balnoi sector of Mendhar tehsil. However, heavy exchange of firing continued between both the armies till 8.50 PM.
Official sources said that Pakistani troops targeted nine forward Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) with small arms in Balnoi sector of Mendhar tehsil, today. Pakistan troops attacked the Indian forward posts Chatri, Atma, Helmet, Parkash, Chatyal, Khera-I, Khera-II, Roshni and Gun Hill i.e. from 471 to 477 from their LP-1, LP 2, LP-3, Teer, Kanal, Barmoch, Jungle-1, Jungle-2, Dhamas, Prench, Daruchiymia and New Post this evening from 5 PM in Balnoi sector of Mendhar. The Pakistani troops fired using Light Machine Guns and Heavy Machine Guns, sources claimed, adding that Indian troops took positions and fired back using equal caliber resulting in heavy exchanges of fire. There was heavy exchange of fire till 5.30 Pm which was followed by intermittent firing till 8.50 PM.
No injury or casualty has been reported on Indian side and searches have been intensified in the area as attempt to push infiltrators into the Indian territory under the shade of ceasefire violation cannot be ruled out.
PRO defence when contacted confirmed the ceasefire violation at LoC.
The area where firing took place is manned by Ist MLI whose two army jawans were killed by Pakistani troops in an ambush, Tuesday morning. Other side is manned by 29 Baloch regiment.
AGENCIES add from ISLAMABAD:
Indian troops killed a Pakistani soldier on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani army said, in the worst outbreak of violence in the area since the nuclear-armed neighbours agreed a ceasefire nearly a decade ago.
In the third fatal attack in five days, the Pakistani was killed by "unprovoked" Indian fire while manning a post in the Battal sector of Kashmir, which is split between the two sides by a heavily fortified border known as the Line of Control (LoC), a news agency quoting Pakistan army spokesman said.
There has been no official word about the ceasefire violation or killing of a Pakistan soldier in New Delhi.
