Anjuman holds literary meet

JAMMU, Nov 6: Anjuman Farogh-e-Urdu J&K Jammu held its weekly literary meeting under the chairmanship of its president Amin Banihali.
The demise of veteran film director Yash Chopra who had contributed a lot to the industry and who had projected the Kashmir valley thoroughly in his films was condoled. Jaspal Bhatti another veteran who excelled in his satirical episodes on TV , in writing and in the films directed by him died in a road accident. His untimely death was also condoled. Anjuman felt that literary world of Urdu is getting orphaned by the passage of time. Many stalwarts had already vanished from the scene. The latest to depart was Razia Bhat a well known short story and novel writer who died in Lahore at the age of 82 years. Members of the Anjuman felt grieved over her death and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. Anjuman as well condoled the death of the mother of known poet of Jammu Tasleem Muntazir and expressed solidarity with the family of the deceased.
Anjuman appreciated the decision of the Utter Pradesh Govt for having agreed to provide Urdu teachers in all the primary schools of the State. The head of the party has also in principle accepted that Urdu would be given due place in all the schools of the State and had forwarded his recommendations to the state government for due consideration. Importance of Urdu had been felt by the Bihar government and even by the Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi who had given necessary orders to all concerned.
Those who recited their poetic compositions included Amin Banihali, Rehmat Banihali, Usshaq Kishtwari, Rahat Hussain Rahat and Khurshid Kazmi.
