SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The state cabinet will meet here tomorrow. This will be the last cabinet in the state’s summer capital this year.
Reports said the cabinet will discuss measures for ensuring availability of essential commodities in the valley during winter months.
The meeting is also expected to give final shape to the setting up of the winter secretariat in the Summer Capital and issue directions to ministers to remain available in the valley from time to time, the sources added.
Necessary measures for ensuring proper supply of electricity in the valley during the winter months are also expected to be discussed in the meeting.
Apart from the efforts for maintenance of law and order, minor reshuffle in police and civil administration is also listed for the agenda.
Meanwhile, chief minister Omar Abdullah has called a high level meeting of Petroleum ministry officials, Gas agency dealers, various cabinet colleagues and CAPD officials tomorrow morning to find a way out from the growing gas crises that has triggered unrest among the valleyites.
A local news agency, KNS, said chief Minster may order for the frequent distribution of gas without requisite papers for some time, though on non subsidised rates. “Winter is approaching fast and the gas crisis is deepening every day, Chief Minster is likely to ask gas dealers to distribute gas on non subsidized rates till the documental formalities are completed by the consumers,” a senior officer said.
Some senior officers in Ministry of Petroleum are also likely to be present in the meeting.
