CM calls for a high level meeting to address the gas crises
Gas dealers likely to be asked to issue gas without papers on non subsidized rates

SRINAGAR, Oct 24 (KNS): Day after high level team of ministers returned from New Delhi on gas subsidy, Chief minister Omar Abdullah has called a high level meeting of Petroleum ministry officials, Gas agency dealers, various cabinet colleagues and CAPD officials on Thursday morning to find a way out from the growing gas crises that has triggered unrest among the valleyites.

Sources in the establishment told KNS that apparently worried with the difficulty Public has been facing due to shortage of gas, Chief Minster may order for the frequent distribution of gas without requisite papers for some time, though on non subsidized rates. “Winter is approaching fast and the gas crises are deepening every day, Chief Minster is likely to ask gas dealers to distribute gas on non subsidized rates till the documental formalities are completed by the consumers.” A senior officer in the govt. told KNS, on the condition of anonymity.

Finance Minster Abdul Rahim Rather and CAPD Mnster Qamer Ali Akhon also to be present in the meeting. The co coordinator of the gas agency dealer S K Shahab has also reportedly arrived in Srinagar late Wednesday to take part in the meeting at CM’s residence Thursday morning.

Meanwhile sources also revealed to KNS that some senior officers in Ministry of Petroleum are also likely to be present in the meeting.

Pertinently valley is witnessing an unprecedented gas crises following the lifting of limited subsidy cap by the Union Govt, which prompted gas deals to seek a reverification of documents to supply the gas to consumers. However people allege that the unnecessary documental formalities and limited gas quota has put them in trouble, forcing people to hit the streets at various places including the Srinagar City. Though state govt. had dispatched a high level team of ministers to New Delhi where they urged Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh to announce special gas package for trouble hit Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile CAPD Minster Qamer Ali Akhoon told KNS that the meeting will be held and they hope that some thing good will come out of the meet.
