JKCWS organises seminar on ‘girl child’

JAMMU, Oct 12: On the eve of International day of girl child, a Seminar was held at Purani Mandi Jammu. Gurdeep Singh Sasan Senior leader J&K National Conference and Chairman of the Society was Chief Guest on the occasion.
Addressing the meeting Sasan said that gap between male and female ratio was widening alarmingly with the passage of time and to protect the girl child, there was an urgent need to have string law. He said that female foeticide is the main reason for declining girl ratio. He stressed that the need of the hour is to socially and jointly wage a decisive war against this menace. He appealed to the religious preachers and heads to come forward and educate the devotees against this cruel and barbaric crime and save the human race from extinction.
Sasan demanded immediate amendment in PC-PNDT, as the act of female foeticide was not only a simple abetment, but clearcut murder, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, violence against a particular gender and in contravention against Hippocrates’ oath, which the medicos take besides being unethical, discriminatory against a particular sex. According to him, this was not a simple murder but genocide, so he demanded that the butchers and perpetrators of this inhuman, barbaric, cruel and heinous crime be booked under section 302, 120 B and other relevant sections of RPC/IPC, in addition to abetment section which is under vogue.
Sasan further urged the Government to make mandatory for every Sonography Centre to go online pertaining to Sonographic tests conducted on pregnant women and also make mandatory for the Clinics equipped with Sonographic machines to enter and maintain proper details of the tests conducted on women on the said website. Sasan appealed to the State Government to enhance the amount of Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000 (Fifty thousand only) which is deposited under ‘Beti Amole’ Scheme and urged the Central Government to extend monetary contribution of Rs 45,000 to the State Government. He further demanded exemption fee to women candidates appearing for Competitive examination and Recruitment, Reservation of 33% Quota in Government Jobs, sufficient representation is PSC, SSRB, Judiciary and other Statutory bodies.
