KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Two militants today reportedly managed to escape during the encounter between them and the government forces in Brinal Lamad area of Kulgam district.

However, the CRPF which was part of the operation, interestingly claims that the operation was successful.

Reports and officials said that the army, CRPF and SOG of police on an input about the presence of militants in the village laid a cordon around the area this morning. As the forces started proceeding ahead, the militants hiding in a residential house opened heavy fire on them which was retaliated.

Reports said that though the heavy firing from both sides continued for some time but the militants succeeded in breaking the cordon and escape. Later the forces raided the house where the militants were hiding and recovered some bread and utensils.

IG, CRPF, Dr B N Ramesh talking to media persons said that the operation was successful. “At least we were able to bust the hideout.

If they escaped today, they cannot escape next time. Few militants cannot disrupt the peace in the area,” IG said.
