Sham discusses health scenario of Khan Sahib with MLA
SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today reviewed the health scenario of Khan Sahib constituency at a meeting of officers held here today.

MLA Khan Sahib, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Secretary Health & Medical Education, Manoj K. Dwivedi, Director Indian System of Medicines (ISM), Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, CMO, Budgam, Joint Director Planning and officers of Horticulture (P&M) were present in the meeting.

Several issues relating to the upgradation of health facilities in the constituency figured in the meeting and the Minister issued instructions to the concerned officers to plug the gaps and improve the existing facilities. He directed for stepping up of monitoring activities and making every one accountable for achieving the better results. He said health is the paramount component amongst the basic amenities and Government accords top priority to this vital sector.

Responding to the demands of the MLA, the Minister directed the Director Health Services to formulate a comprehensive proposal for the construction of health infrastructure for those institutions which are functioning in the rented buildings. He also directed for filling up all vacant posts of doctors and para-medics in the area at the earliest.

Regarding regularization of such health institutions which are functioning under internal arrangements in the area, the Minister maintained that every individual case would be examined on merit and decisions would be taken as per the provisions of the guidelines issued by the Central Government from time to time. He, however, said that rationalization of staff will be done as per the work load of institutions. He assured the MLA to improve overall health facilities in the area.

Regarding setting up of fruit and vegetable market in the area, the Minister directed the concerned officers to complete the process of acquisition of land at the earliest so that the work could be started. He said the Government has already kept a provision of mandi in view of adequate potential of fruit in the area.

Yasin thanked the Minister for addressing the major outstanding issues relating to the health sector in his constituency.
