Trains operate as usual

BANIHAL, Dec 22: Despite heavy snowfall and blockade of the national highway, railways continued to operate train services between Banihal and Srinagar as usual since yesterday.
According to station manager Banihal, Rahul Roy, trains between Srinagar and Banihal ferried about 3300 passengers. The first train
departed at right time from Banihal and carried 1300 passengers to Srinagar in the morning. At least 2000 passengers reached Banihal from Srinagar.
Rahul Roy said that train services can operate despite 6 inches snow accumulation on the tracks. He said that an engine is run on the
tracks for clearance of snow before the normal operations of the train services for the safety of the passengers.
A passenger Professor Abdul Waheed Wani, who came from Srinagar to Banihal said that it was a very good sign for the people of J&K that snowfall doesn't affect the rail movement.
