Dogri Sanstha organises Musical Evening

JAMMU, Nov 26: Poetry of popular Dogri Poet Vijaya Thakur was show-cased today in a Musical Evening organized by Dogri Sanstha, in which young and veteran singers performed here today.
Rani Bloeria, MLC was the chief guest in the programme which was one in the series of such programmes organized by Dogri Sanstha to highlight, the poetry of one particular prominent poet, in each programme.
The soulful rendering of the Gazals and Geets of Vijaya Thakur by young and immensely talented singers Sargam Pant, Apoorva Jamwal, Vivek Mohan and Manju Bala and veteran singer Sham Saajan kept the audience enthralled, who clapped and encouraged the singers throughout the performance. The musical composition of the lyrics was provided by Sham Saajan, known for his penchant, Rakesh Anand and Sanjay Paashi provided the accompaniment on table, flute and guitar respectively, in most masterly manner.
Speaking on this occasion, Rani Bloeria said that the high standard of the presented programme indicates the heights that Dogri poetry has attained as well as the competence of local singers and composers. While appreciating the efforts of Dogri Sanstha, she said that more such programmes should be organized, especially in other towns of the region to make people aware of the Dogri literature and to propagate it among masses. She said music is the best vehicle to promote poetry. She
complemented Vijaya Thakur for her exquisite poetry and the singers and composer for their stiller performances.
Earlier welcoming the audience, Prof. Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha, highlighted the quality of the poetry of Vijaya Thakur. He said that her poetry is a most sensitive and delicate portrayal of human feelings and relationships, and she is endowed with a rare quality of creating poetic imagery which is unique and refreshing.
Vijaya Thakur also recited few verses of her poetry. The programme was anchored and conducted by Raj Kumar Behrupia in his inimitable style. Prof. Veena Gupta, the General Secretary of Dogri Sanstha, thanked the audience at the conclusion of the programme.
