Dewan new tourism secy

NEW DELHI, Sep 24: Parvez Dewan, a 1977 batch IAS officer of the J&K cadre, was on Monday appointed new Tourism Secretary.
The 58-year old Dewan is currently secretary of the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry and and has been the Chairman-and-Managing Director (CMD) of ITDC (Indian Tourism Development Corporation).
He is better known as a writer, having penned 18 books and got prominence for translating the 'Hanuman Chalisa' into English, written 'The Names of Allah,' and brought out 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in Urdu. He is also the co-author of "Tibet: fifty years after."
Dewan takes over from R H Khwaja, IAS (AP:76), who has moved in as the Secretary of Mines vice Viswapati Trivedi, IAS (MP:77) shifted as chairman Inland Waterways Authority of India to fill the vacancy caused by retirement of Ms Bhupinder Prasad IAS(UT:76).
Also, Ramesh Abhishek, IAS (BH:82), member of the Foward Markets Commission, has been elevated as its chairman in the rank and pay of additional secretary.
