Sadhotra supervises relief, rehabilitation measures

DODA, May 10: To oversee the relief and rehabilitation measures put in place by the State Government for earthquake hit people of Bhaderwah , Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra today visited various parts of Bhaderwah and addressed public gatherings .

Speaking on the occasion, Sadhotra said that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for earthquake hit areas which have been released to the concerned Deputy Commissioners for speedy restoration of public services. The CM also announced three months free ration for the affected families besides directions have been issued to the concerned authorities to move ahead for purchase of tents and finalizing of damage assessment report as early as possible, he added. He said various teams have been constituted by the District administration at block, tehsil and village level to assess the actual damages caused due to earthquake in the region. He asked the people to cooperate with the teams for accurate assessment of the losses caused in their respective areas.

He said the government is mobilizing its own resources to provide best possible relief to the affected for reconstruction/ repair of their damaged structures and said that tents are being provided to the affected families as temporary shelter.

The Minister visited Sartingal, Bhejja, Bhalra, Chinta, Seri, Khillani, Bhara, Bhalla and Malothi areas of Bhaderwah and reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures. MLA Bhaderwah, MS Niaz and MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta also addressed the gatherings.
