JAMMU, Aug 21: The NSS Unit of Handa College of Education, today organized an Intra-college “Poster Making Competition” on the theme “National Integration and Communal Harmony” to observe Sadhbhavana Divas. The programme was initiated with the lighting of the lamp by its Managing Director Dr. Vikram Handa, Director Gurpreet Handa and Principal Seema Mohan.
In a statement issued here, Dr. Vikram highlighted the need of national integration and communal harmony which is lacking now-a-days, as unprecedented havoc of communalism, terrorism, casteism, linguism and provincialism raise their ugly heads in different pockets of India. He also stressed upon the need of reviving strong nationalism, as the menace of anti-socials and anti-national forces posed a severe challenge to the humanity.
Following the communal harmony fortnight, a Sadhbhavana pledge issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports was also taken by the management, faculty and students. The purpose of organizing such a programme is to inculcate “we” feeling and use it as a weapon against eradicating all the evils from the society. The students projected their feelings on the posters, which were judged by the MD, Director and the Principal.
In addition to this, the NSS Unit concluded the plantation drive that was started on August 18 this year under the project- “My Earth, My Duty”. A number of saplings were planted in and around the college area to save the Earth. The programme was coordinated by NSS Coordinator Savita Sethi and was compared by NSS member Shapia Shameem.
