‘Assam situation should be addressed immediately’: Address the core issue: Mehboob Beg

SRINAGAR, Aug 18 (KNS): The National Conference Senior leader and Member Parliament Dr. Mehboob Beg while taking part in the debate in the parliament on the Assam situation asked the government of India to take immediate measures to ensure peace prevails in the state and also address the Kashmir situation without further delay .
In his address during the debate where the question hour was canceled in wake of the Assam situation the Member Parliament from South Kashmir on behalf of the National Conference expressed deep pain on the raging violence in Assam, “It is very important to rehabilitate them and provide all kinds of relief immediately and ensure concrete steps are taken make sure the wounds of Assam are healed” he said
“The problem is that when any state is up in flames everyone comes together and starts condoning violence to ensure the flames are doused, but as soon as things come back to normal everything is forgotten” said Beg
“I am surprised that the Assam Accord has not been implemented in letter and sprit causing situation to arise as it has” said Beg
“He reminded the august house that the same thing happened in Kashmir in 2010 when the government constituted committees and even in the past when situation had been unfavorable interlocutors had been appointed but as soon as thing were perceived to be normal the core issue was forgotten and a discussion on a solution was avoided” said Mehboob Beg.
“If the attitude remains as it has then I am afraid that things which may seem to be peaceful now could be triggered by people who are against a peaceful and prosperous Kashmir” he added
“He said issues need to be addressed in its entirety and not on a short term basis, it’s time for all the stake holders to put their heads together and ensure a peaceful solution is found for states like Kashmir, Assam” said beg
“A large democracy like India which has diverse religious and cultural flavors cannot and should not let people be deprived of their genuine aspiration and demands” he added
