Omar inaugurates upgraded administrative halls

JAMMU, Nov 4: As a part of annual Durbar Move process, the Civil Secretariat Monday started functioning in the winter capital for next six months.
On the opening of Civil Secretariat here today, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was accorded rousing welcome by the Council of Ministers, top civil and police officials and other government functionaries.
He was also given Guard of Honour by the Jammu and Kashmir Police contingent. Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union with its president Rouf Ahmad and other office bearers also accorded rousing reception to the Chief Minister and raised slogans in his and his government’s favour. They also presented bouquets and showered flowers on him.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated upgraded fully computerized administrative halls for Hospitality and Protocol, Health and Medical Education, Housing and Urban Development, Ladakh Affairs, Labour and Forest departments, completed at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore within a period of six months.
Talking to media, on the occasion the Chief Minister said that the coalition government was going to complete its five year period within next few months. “We are here to carry forward the development agenda as promised to the people and also complete various ongoing projects with added thrust,” he said.
Omar said, “We are also moving ahead with the road map of creating new administrative units and the Cabinet Sub Committee constituted in this regard has almost completed the exercise. The endeavor of our government to take development process to the door steps of the people will receive a new impetus with the creation of these units.”
Omar said that the government would endeavour to present a people friendly budget during the coming Assembly Session at Jammu. He said two important legislations viz., Right to Information Act and Public Service Guarantee Act would be further strengthened. “More we strengthen and widen the gamut of the Public Service Guarantee Act, the better the administrative performance will be,” he added.
Chief Minister reiterated the commitment and resolve of the coalition government to fulfill developmental promises made with the people and carry forward the agenda of peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
