JAMMU, Oct 28: Amid tense atmosphere, calm prevailed on the third continuous day on the borders with no ceasefire violation incident in Jammu region.
Though the guns did not roar on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu province, a sense of uncertainty and insecurity continued to prevail among the residents living there.
Some of the villagers though returned to their homes yet they fear to go to their fields apprehending firing and shelling from the other side of border.
Unofficial reports said that some of the farmers returned to their fields to harvest their ripen crop but they were under constant fear of being targeted from the other side.
The Border Security Force and army maintained a tight vigil along International Border (IB) in Ramgarh, Arnia, R S Pura and Pargwal Sectors aimed high alert.
The confusion continued to rule the roost amid the reports about a likely flag meeting between senior BSF officers and Pak Rangers today to defuse escalated tension on the border in a past fortnight.
No flag meeting took place between the two enemy forces despite the efforts of BSF authorities. BSF is yet to receive any formal confirmation from their Pakistani counterparts on this account.
The situation, however, continued to remain tense along IB with the villagers praying for peaceful relations between the two countries.
One BSF jawan was killed and around 40 persons including seven BSF jawans and civilians comprising kids also were injured in the last week when Pakistan Rangers resorted to heavy firing in Ramgarh, Arnia, R S Pura and Pargwal Sectors of Jammu Frontier.
Nearly 200 km-long International Border (IB) in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu frontier witnessed heavy shelling of mortars and rockets and firing from automatic weapons since October 14 on a daily basis not only on Border out Posts (BoPs) but also in dozens of border villages.
