‘Ban photo-publicity at government-expenses

Kashmir Times. Dated: 10/22/2013 12:48:27 AM

Dear Editor,
It refers to President of India upholding report of Delhi Lokayukt against printing of photographs of Chief Minister and another minister of Delhi on loan-application forms. But President of India, instead of directing political rulers, has instead directed officers of Delhi government against the faulty practice. But file-noting reveal that officers of Delhi government had cautioned and advised against printing of photos of political rulers on loan-application forms. It was at the behest of concerned political rulers that decision was finally taken and implemented to print photos of political rulers on loan-application forms. Delhi Lokayukt should draw attention towards lapse on part of President’s Secretariat so that cautionary advice from President of India may directly indict political rulers for the wrong doing.
It is time that President of India may use the opportunity to issue an advisory note putting a total ban on photo-publicity of living persons, especially political rulers at the expense of government and public-sector-undertakings. Such an advisory-note from President of India though not mandatory, yet will develop strong pressure of media and public against nuisance of misuse of public-money on photo-publicity and image-projection of political rulers.
