Model Academy, Humming Buds celebrate I- Day
JAMMU, Aug 14: Model Academy, the Prestigious School of MIER today celebrated Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Dr. Adit Gupta Joint Director was the chief guest at the function.

Rupa Gupta welcomed the chief guest and congratulated the students on this occasion. She advised the youth to come forward and to work for the betterment and progress of the country. The function started with March past and Bharat Scouts & Guides marching to the tune of Kadam se Kadam Milaye ja. It was followed by Inter house Patriotic Group Song competition and Inter house Dance competition. The students participated with great fervour.

 Dr. Adit Gupta Joint Director MIER congratulated the students on 65th Independence Day. He applauded the youth and told them that reins of the country are in their hand. He further told them that youth has an important role to play in freeing the country of various ills. Dr. Adit further highlighted the progress of India especially in the area of Information technology, which has given the country a preferred nation status. He stressed upon the students to form different clubs at school level where in different issues would be discussed and means devised to help India to move on the path of progress.

 Darwin house won the Inter House Patriotic Song competition and Edison House won the Inter house dance competition.

 Humming Buds, the ISO 9001-2008 certified Pre-School chain of MIER, also celebrated Independence Day at the B.C. Road and Residency Road branches with great pomp and show. The little kids performed with full energy on the song “Nana Munna Rahi Hoon….” The classes were decorated with the colours of the National Flag and the aim of the day was to instil in the young children, spirit of patriotism and respect for their motherland. Teachers drew tattoo of the tri colour on the kids’ arms and beautiful craftwork was done in project files with coloured rice and hand impressions. In short children were told that India got its freedom on this day and visuals of our freedom fighters were shown on Smart Class.

Militant hideout busted
JAMMU, Aug 14: A day ahead of Independence Day, security forces on Tuesday unearthed a militant hideout in Rajouri district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions. Acting on a tip-off, troops of 60 Rashtriya Rifles and Police busted the hideout in Gambhiri forest area in Kotranka belt of Rajouri district, defence spokesman Col RK Palta said.
