J&K Bank launches loan scheme for less skilled youth
SRINAGAR, Aug 14: With a view to focus on vocational education and skill development of a larger chunk of uneducated youth/school drop-outs within its area of operations, J&K Bank today launched a credit scheme titled ‘J&K Bank Vocational Education & Training Finance’.

The scheme has been tailored in the backdrop of 12th Five-Year Plan target of skilling 8 crore people across the country by the Government of India (GoI). The scheme will go a long way in supplementing the GoI’s flagship schemes namely Uddan and Himayat.

Commenting on the occasion Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad said, “Our bank is at the fore front of youth empowerment and that includes less skilled and uneducated lot among them. In this regard, the Bank has already institutionalised the skill up-gradation process of such youth through a network of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) across the state. The trainings are designed to increase their levels of employability as per the market requirements.”

He said, “J&K Bank Vocational Education & Training Finance has been tailored to meet the financial needs of such uneducated youth and school drop-outs so that they too share the benefits of financial empowerment with their well-placed peers.”

The scheme envisages finances to the tune of Rs 1.50 lacs to students with admission in a vocational and skill development courses in government run or its supported companies, societies, organizations.

J&K Bank today commissioned an ATM at Sagam in Islamabad. Zonal Head Kashmir (South) Mushtaq Ahmad Mir inaugurated the ATM in presence of Cluster Head Zaffar Ahmad Makhdoomi, a large number of valuable customers of the bank and respectable citizens of the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Zonal Head talked about the Bank's progress in implementation of Information Technology.

He assured the public that the Bank is determined to provide the people world class banking facilities right at their door-step.

Many respectable citizens of the area lauded the role of the bank in the economic development of the State.

It is 33rd ATM of the bank in the district.

J&K Bank convened the 41st District Level Review Committee (DLRC) Meeting in Budgam under the Chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner Khursheed Ahmad Shah.

Lead District Manager (LDM) Mohammad Yaqoob welcomed the participants and briefed the house about the achievement of the Banks operating in the District for the quarter ended June 2012 under the Annual Action Plan 2012-2013.

He said, “The District has registered a Credit dispensation of Rs 56.84 Crores out of which priority sector has received Rs 29.44 Crores while as Non- Priority Sector has received Rs 27.40 Crores. The Agriculture sector received a credit of Rs. 5.73 Crores; MSME sector received a credit of Rs. 14.02 Crores and Micro sector Rs. 1.74 Crores.”

In accordance with the envisaged National Project of Kissan Credit Cards, the District has dispensed an amount of Rs 5.08 Crores in the first Quarter.

The Chairman (DLRC) emphasized that the revised target of Rs 237.87 Crores fixed for the FY 2012-13 shall also be achieved so that more and more beneficiaries are benefitted particularly weaker sections of the society.

Militant hideout busted
