No Eid greetings at borders, no exchange of sweets

POONCH, Oct 16: Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged bullets at International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) instead of sweets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha.
Second time after opening of Rah-e-Milan at Chakan-Da-Bagh, armies of both sides did not exchange sweets on Eid-ul-Zuha.
Armies on both sides did not exchange sweets at LoC due to hostile relations between them after killing of an Indian army jawan at forward area in the Balakot sub-sector yesterday.
Sources said that after series of ceasefire violations on LoC at Poonch and killing of an Indian jawan in Balakot sub-sector of Mendhar in Poonch district, Indian and Pakistani troops did not exchange sweets at Chakan-Da-Bagh today. Pakistani troops didn’t approach Indian army and Indian troops responded similarly.
Sources added that higher authorities of Indian army directed the local brigade not to exchange sweets and greetings with Pakistani army officials as a mark of protest. Higher authorities also instructed local officers that if Pak army officials approach them for sweets exchanged on hot line they must refuse for it. Sources further revealed that Pakistani army did not approach the Indian army officials for sweets exchange.
Indian and Pakistani army regularly celebrate national festivals at Chakkan-Da-Bagh but today sweets were not exchanged.
It may be recalled here that Indian troops have blamed Pakistan army for repeatedly violating ceasefire in Poonch district from last more than three months and yesterday an army jawan was killed while several others were seriously injured in firing. As a mark of protest Indian army officials did not contact Pakistan army for sweets exchange.
It is pertinent to mention here that Indian and Pakistani troops did not exchange sweets on the eve of Independence Day at Chakkan-Da-Bagh due to hostile relations between both armies and killing of Indian soldiers on LoC.
Meanwhile, official reports said that Indian and Pakistani troops also did not exchange sweets at Octroi BoP in Suchetgarh sector of IB.
